About this collection

The following digital images consist of materials relating to the Cherokee people, many are written in the Sequoyah syllabary. They include legal documents, treaties, correspondence, and other historical materials of a non-literary nature. They are comprised of materials from the Jesse Bartley (J. B.) Milam papers (1989.002), John W. Shleppey collection (1975.002). and Indians of North America Historical manuscripts and documents, 1724-1981 (1975.006), and other materials that have been classified and are not a part of other collections. Provenance is noted if known.
